Eminent artist B Jayashree released a book with comprehensive information on Ullala Rani Abbakka, who fought successfully against the Portuguese, was released and it will soon reach book stalls. Veerarani Abbakka Utsava Samiti is all set to release the 400-page book.
Jayshree said that the life and achievements of queen abbakaa should be introduced in curriculum of the schools.
Honourary chief editor of the book Amritha Someshwara said that the book will be of use for future generation, especially for those who research Rani Abbakka. "We collected information on her life and achievements from several scholars. Papers presented at a seminar on Rani Abbakka organised here on March 12 and 13 have also been included in the book. The book also has 100 rare pictures of Abbakka," he added.
Nitte University chancellor N Vinay Hegde presided at SDM Law College auditorium here on September 17. Former vice chancellor of Karnataka State Open University B A Vivek Rai, deputy speaker in the Assembly N Yogish Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy chairman Palthadi Ramakrishna Achar and mayor Praveen were the guests.
